Failed 11 year old Utica gas Steam boiler. Rotted return main piping leaking. Rotted burner compartment with cracked Cast Iron section, above the high water line. it was leaking into burner compartment, only when it began to boil into steam. So there was no water showing on floor or under boiler. It would then actually blow out the pilot. Causing the heat to go out. The vapor would float up and out the chimney. We removed everything and Upgraded to a new Peerless Gas 63-04L Spark ignition 82% efficient Boiler with new Hartford loop piping manifold and repiped the rotted return main. Replaced all radiator vents through home. Now nice quiet tight heat throughout all radiators.
